I Love...A Good Challenge

I do love a good challenge although I do not consider myself to be a competitive person. I actually like to steer clear of competitive folks as it gives me bad taste in my mouth. However, hubby and I will both admit to be competitive with ourselves. Do you know what I mean? When hubby was swimmer back in the day he says he never tried to beat the other guys, but strived to beat his late time. And me, I am always working on making myself better at something. Perhaps because I don't feel I excel at any one thing.

This leads me to the guitar, which is a whole post in it's self. Hubby proclaimed, on Tuesday night, that he'd like to learn to play the guitar. The next day I thought I'd post a want-ad on FreeCycle and this beauty is what came home with us a week later. It is an amazing story which I will write about later. For now, this is the new love of my hubby's free time. And oh what joy it is to hear the strings getting strummed each night after dinner.

Join me in the challenge if you will.

  2. My hubby started guitar lessons last October and he is getting really good. I LOVE the sound of it myself. I have never been able to decide whether I am suer competitive at heart and just kinda scared or not at all competitive but for me the feeling is the same--leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth...

  3. Beautiful photo. I proclaimed one day a couple of years ago that I would learn to play the guitar, beginning that day, and I am SO glad that I did.

  4. That is a gorgeous guitar! I am looking forward to the story.
I can totally relate to the feeling of not excelling at any one thing. I feel like there are a lot of things I can do "pretty well" or "a decent job with" but not that something special. I waffle back and forth between thinking that I should find that one thing and being content to be someone who tries a lot of different things.

  5. Ooo...you're challenge looks awesome, though I'm drawn to your hubby's! I look forward to hearing the story. I gave my guitar to a friends son five years ago and now I'd like to find one again! What's he playing?
